Incubator
Incubator
is required for bacteriological cultures, blood transfusion, serological, hematology
and some clinical chemistry test [N.B.: For other test a dry heat block or
water bath is used.]
Electronic
incubator (used in the district microbiological laboratories)
1.Natural convection
model with overheat protection.
2.It is capable of
operating at 35° C ±2°C with hydraulic thermostat, control or microprocessor
controlled.
3.It is fitted with a
temperature display to provide a continuous
read-out of temperature or supplied with a thermometer.
4.Its capacity suited to
the work load. An incubator of 28 liter capacity [Binder B 28 /WTB Binder 28
]will be adequate for most district laboratories.
5.It has non-tip
shelves.
6.It has a corrosion
resistant durable outer case.
7.It is easy to clean
and maintain and supplied with adequate user manual.
Use and care of an incubator:
1. Read
carefully the manufacture’s obstruction and prepare a stock record and
standard.
2. Make
sure that the incubator is positioned on a level surface , ventilation is open
.
3.
Adjust the thermostat dial until correct reading that is 35°C -37°C for routine
incubator.
4.
Before incubating cultures and tests, check the temperature.
5.
Every 3-6 months cheek the incubator and flex for signs of water.
